A search and rescue team of Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence could not leave for earthquake-hit Nepal due to a technical glitch in the aircraft of Bangladesh Air Force which was supposed to carry them.
The fire service authorities for the first time in history were sending a team to a foreign country, said Maj Shakil Newaz, fire service director (operations and maintenance), who is leading the 22-member team.
Saturday's devastating quake killed over 5,000 people and injured more than 10,000.
