7-year-old boy killed in Ashulia road crash

Locals block road, vandalise 10 vehicles; other road crashes kill two, injure three

Three people, including a seven-year-old boy, were killed and three others injured in road accidents in three districts yesterday.

In Ashulia of Dhaka, Abu Sayed, 7, son of Abu Sufian, of Dendabor, was killed when a bus of Itihash Paribahan Private Ltd ran him over while he was crossing the Nobinagar-Chandra highway at Polashbari.

Protesting the incident, agitated locals blocked the highway for around one hour and vandalised about 10 vehicles, said witnesses.

Mohsinul Kadir, officer-in-charge of Ashulia Police Station, said they seized the bus but the driver and his helper escaped.

In Dinajpur, Rosoni Kanta Roy, 40, of Boikunthapur was killed and his co-rider injured after his motorcycle hit a roadside tree on the Dinajpur-Rangpur highway in Tetuliasahapara village of Chirirbandar upazila.

In Joypurhat, Golam Mostafa, 38, of Chukaibari village was killed and his two co-riders were injured in a similar accident at Sagarpur village in Akkelpur upazila.
