7 die in Bandarban road accident

Crashes in other districts kill 5

Twelve people, including seven in Bandarban, were killed and 25 others injured in road accidents in four districts yesterday.

In Bandarban, seven people were killed and eight others injured when a truck turned turtle as the driver lost control over the vehicle on Lama-Chokoria road in Yangcha area of Lama upazila.

The deceased were Altaf Hossain, 55, Rabin, 35, Rajib, 40, Amzad Hossain, 45, Rakib, 30, Alek, 32, of Pabna and Md Hassan, 30, of Satkhira.

The truck was carrying labourers and construction materials to a construction site. Police detained the helper.

In Savar, two people were killed and five others injured when a truck collided head-on with a bus on Savar-Birulia road at Kolma.

The deceased were Ebadot Mondol, 28, and Shohidul Islam, 40, of Ashulia.

In Tangail, two people were killed and 10 others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck on Bangabandhu Bridge East Connecting road in Soratoil area of Kalihati upazila.

The deceased were freedom fighter Azizul Haque, 70, of Pabna and Saiful Islam, 45, of Kushtia.

In Chittagong, a CNG-run human hauler driver Md Hashem, 35, of Bhola was killed and two of his passengers were injured when a bus collided head-on with the vehicle on Chittagong-Cox's Bazar Highway at Bhayar Dighir Par in Patiya upazila. Vehicular movement came to a halt for an hour on the highway following the incident.
