3-yr-old girl raped

A 30-year-old man allegedly raped a three-year-old girl at Rayebazar in the capita on Thursday evening.

Police arrested Hossain, victim's neighbour, after the victim's father filed a rape case against him and he was sent on a three-day remand by a Dhaka court yesterday, said Jamal Uddin Mir, officer-in-charge of Mohammadpur Police Station.

The victim was missing for over two hours until her father saw her coming out of the accused's house around 7:00pm and crying, the OC said, quoting the victim's father.

Police took her to the victim support centre at Tejgaon Police Station yesterday.

Meanwhile, Hazaribagh police on Wednesday night arrested Mizanur Rahman, 35, in Boubazar area for raping four children, all aged between 9 and 12 years, at different time.

On Wednesday evening, the victims' families filed a case against Mizanur who was placed on a two-day remand the following day.

"The man raped one of the four girls three months ago. But it remained unreported to police since Mizanur threatened her family not to file complaints against him," said Omar Faruque, investigation officer (IO) of the case.
