3 hurt in fire at shoe factory

Three persons sustained injuries in a fire that broke out in a shoe factory in Bangshal in Old Dhaka yesterday.

The injured are Alauddin, 19, Robin Hossain, 20, and Sujon Miah, 20.

Around 3:30am, the fire originated from a short circuit at Maximus Shoe Factory on the second floor of a five-storey building, said fire service sources.

Monir Hossain, owner of the factory, said the three were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Partha Shankar Paul, a resident surgeon of DMCH, told The Daily Star that 40 percent of Alauddin's body was burnt and that he is in a critical condition.
