21 shops, houses gutted in 2 dists

Eleven shops and ten houses were gutted in three separate incidents in two districts yesterday.

In Pirojpur, eleven shops were gutted as fire originated from a stove of sweet shops of Shamiron in Pattashi bazaar and spread to the adjacent shops yesterday, gutting valuables worth Tk 20 lakh.

On information, fire-fighters rushed to the spot and doused the blaze.

In Thakurgaon, at least ten houses were gutted in two separate fire incidents.

The fire broke out due to an electric short circuit in one Motilal Barman's house at Ruhea Rakhaldighi village and spread to the adjacent ones and gutted five houses.

Fire-fighters doused the blaze after one and half hours.

In another incident, five houses were gutted at Danarhat Shuabari village after the fire originated from an earthen oven of one Shamsul Haque's house and spread to the adjacent houses. Fire-fighters extinguished the fire after one hour.
