19-year-old arrestee flees from DMCH
A 19-year-old boy, who was arrested over a case filed following a clash, escaped from Dhaka Medical College Hospital this afternoon while receiving treatment there.
Rabby, who is accused in the case filed with Sabujbagh Police Station, was being treated under police custody at Ward No 106 of the hospital since Saturday.
Mahbub Alam, officer-in-charge of Sabujbagh Police Station, said police arrested Rabby in a case filed over a clash between two groups at Basabo Wahab Colony area a few days ago.
Rabby was admitted to hospital as he sustained injuries in the clash, the OC said.
The police officer said two police personnel were guarding Rabby, but he fled from the hospital with the excuse of going to the washroom around 3:00pm.
Action would be taken against the on-duty police personnel as the accused managed to escape due to their negligence, the OC also said, adding that drives were on to arrest Rabby.
Earlier on Saturday, a prisoner escaped from Mitford Hospital while he was receiving treatment there. Prisons officials detained him from Babubazar area hours later.
