Luxury BMW X5 SUV seized at Banani
A team of customs intelligence last night seized a luxury sport utility vehicle (SUV) with British registration plate in Banani of Dhaka.
The BMW X5, worth around Tk 3.5 crore, was seized from the basement of a house owned by a businessman, Moinul Khan, director general of customs intelligence, said this morning.
Based on the allegation that the vehicle had been using a "strange number plate", the investigators claimed to have conducted the drive.

The customs office said this registration number is British and the vehicle was used in Bangladesh without changing the foreign registration.
The BMW SUV was brought in the country in 2011 though the Carnet de Passage, the facility allows tourists to bring in their vehicles without payment of customs duties provided they take them back when they leave the country.
The vehicle was hidden in the basement, it said.
