Police today claimed to have detained 37 leaders and activists of the female front of Jamaat-e-Islami for their alleged attempt to commit subversive activities at Basundia of Jessore Sadar.

Police also seized some bomb making materials from their possession during the raid that was carried out around 6:00pm, a local correspondent reports quoting police.

Acting on a tip-off, police raided when the detainees were holding a secret meeting at a house in the area, Sub-Inspector SS Fazar Ali, in-charge of the Basundia police outpost, said.

The women leaders and activists were engaged in hatching conspiracy to carry out subversive activities to create instability, the police official added.
