Assures confidentiality as probe begins into alleged extortion from buses

The authorities of Jagannath University (JnU) have launched an investigation into allegations of extortion from buses in front of the campus, issuing a public notice seeking information and video footage related to the incidents.

The matter was disclosed today in a notice signed by Prof Md Mahadi Hasan Jewel, convener of the probe committee and assistant proctor.

According to the notice, reports published in the media and circulated on social media alleged that money was being collected from public buses near the university. In response, a probe committee has been formed to investigate the issue and submit a report.

The notice urged anyone with relevant information or video clips regarding the incident to contact the undersigned.

It also assured that the identity of informants would be kept confidential. The deadline for submitting information or footage has been set for 4:00pm on April 2.
