Came to Dhaka for treatment, died on the road after three-wheeler hit her

A woman who came to Dhaka for treatment died after a CNG-run auto-rickshaw hit her in front of Gonoshasthaya Kendra Hospital in Dhanmondi this morning.

The deceased, Yasmin Akhtar (42), of Narayanganj's Siddhirganj upazila came to the hospital for kidney dialysis, said Md Ikram Ali Mia, officer-in-charge (OC) of Dhanmondi Police Station.

She was standing in front of Gonoshasthaya Kendra Hospital when a speeding autorickshaw hit her around 5:45am, the OC said.

Yasmin fell and received severe head injury. She was declared dead after being rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital, the OC added.

Police seized the vehicle and detained its driver. The body was sent to DMC morgue for autopsy.
