Youths trained on mobile storytelling to raise coastal voices

Fourteen adolescents and youths took part.

Young people in the coastal region have received training in mobile storytelling to help document local experiences.

The two-day workshop was held in Shyamnagar Upazila on November 26–27, 2025. It was organised by Daffodil International University (DIU) in partnership with the Gender-responsive Coastal Adaptation Project of UNDP Bangladesh. Fourteen adolescents and youths took part.

Md Abdul Quayyum, Head of Communication at UNDP Bangladesh, said the initiative marked the start of long-term support to young storytellers. Continued guidance would help ensure coastal voices remain visible, he added.

Md Abdul Hannan, National Project Manager of the project, said youth-led communication is vital for highlighting local challenges and supporting adaptation.

Dr Abdul Kabil Khan of DIU led a technical session on mobile videography and photography. He said mobile storytelling allows young people to capture real stories with authenticity.

The mentorship will continue to help participants refine their content and reach wider audiences.
