Sonargaon University wins Zia Inter-University T-10 Cricket Tournament
Sonargaon University have emerged champions of the Zia Inter-University T-10 Cricket Tournament after defeating Fareast International University in the final in Dhaka.
The final match was played at the Mirpur City Club ground with teams from 32 public and private universities taking part in the tournament, says a press release.
After losing the toss, Sonargaon University batted first and scored 173 runs in the allotted 10 overs. Fareast International University, chasing the target, were restricted to 124 runs for the loss of five wickets. Sonargaon University won the match by 48 runs.
The trophy was handed over to Sonargaon University captain Imran Hossain Jahir at the prize-giving ceremony. The presentation was made by Aminul Haque, sports affairs secretary of BNP, convener of Dhaka North BNP and former national football team captain, in the presence of tournament chairman and member secretary of Jatiyatabadi Krira Dal Zahed Parvez Chowdhury.
Azizul Bari Shipu, adviser to the trustee board of Sonargaon University, was also present at the ceremony.
Sonargaon University student Hridoy Sarkar was named Man of the Match for his performance in the final.
