Rangs Properties joins UN Global Compact, a first for Bangladesh’s real estate sector

Rangs Properties Limited has joined the United Nations Global Compact Network Bangladesh, becoming the first real estate company in the country to sign up to the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative.

The signing ceremony was held at Rangs Babylonia in Dhaka, says a press release.

The agreement was signed by Mashid Rahman on behalf of Rangs Properties Limited and Shahamin Zaman for UN Global Compact Network Bangladesh. Senior management of Rangs Properties Limited was present at the event.

Sustainability is a core pillar of the company’s development approach under the Rancon Green Initiative. As part of this effort, Rangs Properties Limited has integrated 348,216 square feet of natural green space across its residential and commercial developments, including landscaped areas, green rooftops, vertical gardens and eco-conscious architectural designs.

Mashid Rahman, divisional director of Rancon Real Estate and Sea Fishing, said, "Real change is only possible through conscious choices, collective effort, and a mindset committed to sustainability. At Rangs Properties Limited, we embrace this responsibility wholeheartedly, and it guides everything we do. Integrating green practices into modern architecture is not just a choice, it is our commitment to a better, more sustainable future for our communities and the environment."

During the programme, representatives of the UN Global Compact shared insights on global sustainability frameworks and best practices. Rangs Properties Limited also outlined its future sustainability plans for the real estate sector, noting that collaboration with the UN Global Compact would help guide responsible construction and long-term environmental stewardship.

The partnership reflects the company’s stated aim to contribute to sustainable urban development in Bangladesh while aligning its operations with internationally recognised sustainability standards.
