Professor Dr. Md. Mizanur Rahman appointed as Northern University VC
Professor Dr. Md. Mizanur Rahman of the Department of Marketing, University of Dhaka, has been appointed Vice-Chancellor of Northern University Bangladesh.
The appointment was confirmed in a notification issued on November 23, signed by Sultan Ahmed, Assistant Secretary, Ministry of Education, by order of the President.
According to the notification, he has been appointed for a four-year term under Section 31(1) of the Private University Act, 2010. He will receive the salary, allowances, and other benefits determined by the university and will discharge his duties in line with all legal provisions. The order is effective immediately.
Professor Rahman holds an outstanding academic record. He achieved First Class First in his Honors from the Department of Marketing, University of Dhaka, and completed his MBA with a double major in Finance and Marketing from Dalhousie University, ranking among the top 1% of graduates. He later obtained his Master's (First Class Second) and PhD from the University of Dhaka.
With 35 years of academic experience, he has served as Chairman of the Department of Marketing and as an elected member of the Syndicate and Senate at the University of Dhaka. He also served as Dean at Daffodil International University and has been an adjunct faculty member at several private universities including North South University, BRAC University, and IUB.
He has more than 35 publications, including international articles and research monographs, and has supervised several MPhil and PhD students. He has also served as Vice President of the Dhaka University Marketing Alumni Association.
Beyond academia, he has advised and held leadership roles in various corporate and educational institutions and currently serves as Chairman of the North South Society.
