BUBT welcomes new students at Freshers’ Reception for Spring 2026

Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) held its Freshers’ Reception Ceremony for the Spring 2026 semester on Thursday at the university’s Sports Complex.

The programme marked the formal welcome of newly admitted students, with students, teachers, guardians and senior administrators gathering on campus, creating a festive atmosphere, says a press release.

Former national cricket team captain Khaled Masud Pilot attended as chief guest. Vice Chairman of the BUBT Trust Abu Saleh was present as special guest. The ceremony was chaired by Vice-Chancellor A. B. M. Shawkat Ali.

The event began with recitations from holy books. Registrar Harun-Or-Rashid delivered the welcome address, followed by guideline-focused speeches from the university proctor and deans of different faculties.

In his address, Khaled Masud Pilot stressed the importance of discipline, perseverance and self-confidence in achieving success. He also encouraged students to engage in sports and co-curricular activities alongside academic studies to build mental strength and urged them to contribute positively to society.

Abu Saleh said university life plays a crucial role in shaping a student’s future, adding that proper use of this period can help students become competent and self-reliant.

In his presidential speech, Vice-Chancellor A. B. M. Shawkat Ali said BUBT is committed to preparing students as global citizens through quality education and values. He welcomed the new students and their guardians and called on students to pursue their studies with dedication and integrity.

The day-long programme concluded in the evening with a cultural event, formally marking the beginning of university life for the Spring 2026 intake.
