124 students from Bangladesh achieve top results in Cambridge Learner Awards

Cambridge International Education has been providing global examinations for over 160 years.

Bangladesh has recorded strong results in the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards 2025, with 124 students recognised for their performance in the June examination series.

The awards were presented on November 27, at a ceremony in Dhaka co-hosted by the International Education group at Cambridge University Press & Assessment and the British Council.

The programme honours students across more than 40 countries. Cambridge International Education has been providing global examinations for over 160 years. Awards were given in four categories: Top in the World, High Achievement, Top in Country, and Best Across.

Bangladeshi students secured 94 Top in the World awards. These were given to those who achieved the highest marks worldwide in individual subjects. Another 41 students received Top in Bangladesh awards for leading the country in specific subjects.

Sarwat Reza, Country Lead - Bangladesh at Cambridge University Press & Assessment, opened the event. Rod Smith, Group Managing Director, International Education at Cambridge, delivered a message through video. Martin Dawson, Deputy Development Director at the British High Commission, spoke about the UK's support for education and long-standing ties with Bangladesh.

Vinay Sharma, Regional Director for Cambridge International Education – South Asia, said Cambridge learners remain central to the organisation's work. He said each part of the system is designed to help students reach their potential.

Maxim Raimann, Exams Director Bangladesh at the British Council, praised students for their determination and resilience. He said the British Council and Cambridge continue to work together to expand access to exams and support teachers.

Professor Dr Khandokar Ehsanul Kabir, Chairman of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka, delivered an address calling for quality education and joint efforts to guide the next generation.

The ceremony also featured reflections from Cambridge alumni. Current students of BUET, the Armed Forces Medical College, and an officer of the Bangladesh Air Force spoke about their academic journeys. Students of Glenrich International School performed at the event.

High Achievement awards were presented by Zunayed Ahmed of the British Council and Juliet Gomes of Cambridge University Press & Assessment. Top in Country awards were handed out by Vinay Sharma and Tahnee Yeasmin, who closed the ceremony with thanks to all participants and partners.
