NRB Bank partners with BB to boost green, ICT financing

NRB Bank PLC has signed three participation agreements with the Sustainable Finance Department of Bangladesh Bank under the central bank’s refinance schemes to support green factory buildings, green industries and ICT-sector initiatives.

Of the three schemes, Tk 3,000 crore has been allocated to the Export Diversification Refinance Scheme, Tk 1,000 crore to green factory buildings and green industry initiatives, and Tk 1,000 crore to the information and communication technology (ICT) sector.

AKM Nurunnabi, director of the Sustainable Finance Department of Bangladesh Bank, and Tarek Reaz Khan, managing director and CEO of NRB Bank PLC, signed the agreements at the central bank’s headquarters in Dhaka recently, according to a press release. The agreements will enable NRB Bank to facilitate financing for export-oriented industries under the Export Policy 2024-2027, including the highest-priority sectors and special development sectors, as well as eligible green factory buildings, green industries and ICT-sector initiatives.
