Bangladesh gets first US corn shipment in eight years
Bangladesh has received its first shipment of US corn since 2018, with the consignment carrying 57,855 tonnes arriving at the Chattogram Port today.
In a press release, the US Embassy in Dhaka said the shipment consists of yellow corn harvested in North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota during the 2025–26 crop year and shipped from Vancouver, Washington.
The delivery opens the first opportunity in eight years for Bangladeshi feed millers to use US-origin corn, which is widely used in poultry and livestock nutrition.
Erin Covert, agricultural attaché at the US embassy, visited the port to receive the vessel alongside buyers from major feed millers, including Nahar Agro Group, Paragon Group and Nourish Poultry and Hatchery Ltd.
An official of United Grain Corporation said the company looks forward to supplying Bangladesh with US grains in the coming years.
