Sawkatul Alam assumes charge as administrator of EXIM Bank

Md Sawkatul Alam, executive director of Bangladesh Bank, assumed charge as the administrator of EXIM Bank PLC on Wednesday. He was appointed by the central bank as part of the ongoing merger process involving five banks.

Beginning his career as an assistant director at Bangladesh Bank in 1996, Alam has built a distinguished career spanning 28 years at the central bank, EXIM Bank said in a press release today.

During this time, he served in key positions at the Barishal and Rajshahi offices, the Department of Offsite Supervision, the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU), and the Banking Inspection Division.

He also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Bangladesh Municipal Development Fund (BMDF).

Alam obtained both his bachelor's and master's degrees from the Department of Mathematics at the University of Dhaka, and later completed a professional master's degree from the Department of Economics at the same university.
