10km tailback on Dhaka-Paturia highway

By Star Digital Report

Hundreds of vehicles with home-bound people were stuck in a 10-kilometre tailback on Dhaka-Paturia highway this morning.

The vehicles are moving very slowly, our Manikganj correspondent reported from the spot around 9:00am.

The home-goers said they had to spend three times the amount they usually pay as fare to go home by rickshaw-vans, motorcycles, pick-up vans and trucks.

The commuters on the highway are fearing that it may take six to seven hours to reach Paturia from Manikganj. Normally it taken only 40 minutes, they said.

All 16 ferries are in operation at Paturia ferry ghat due to massive rush of passengers.
