Ecnec approves Tk 693cr 3rd submarine cable project
Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) today gave approval to the 3rd submarine cable project in the country at a cost of Tk 693 crore.
The council also approved three more projects at a meeting at NEC conference room at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in Dhaka with Prime Minister and Ecnec Chairperson Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
The prime minister joined the meeting through video conference from her official residence Gono Bhaban.

Once the project is implemented, Bangladesh will be connected with a third submarine cable to meet the rapidly growing demand for internet bandwidth and ensure uninterrupted broadband internet services, according to the proposal placed by the Posts and Telecommunications Division.
A total of four projects worth Tk 2,115.20 crore got the Ecnec approval today. Of the total, Tk 1,440.87 crore comes from government fund, Tk 300.83 crore from various organisations' funds and Tk 373.50 crore is from foreign grants.
