Two Tripura girls found dead in Ctg
Police recovered the bodies of two Tripura girls from a home in the district's Sitakunda upazila yesterday evening, hours after the two were found hanging from the iron grill of a window in a room.
Locals said the dead -- Sukhloti Tripura, 13, and Chobi Rani Tripura, 15, -- were friends in Tripura Para. The bodies were found at Chobi's home.
Sub-Inspector Md Joynal of Sitakunda Police Station said Chobi's younger brother noticed that the door of the room was locked from outside around 11:30am. Being informed about it, neighbours rushed to the house and found the two friends dead.
“The girls were found in sitting position. There were no injury marks on their bodies.” added Joynal who visited the spot.
Iftekhar Hasan, officer-in-charge of the police station, said though the bodies were found in the morning, they were informed about the incident in the evening.
Sukhloti's father Folin Tripura alleged that some young men had been stalking her daughter for about four months.
Suman Tripura, father of Chobi, said people from his community stood in the stalkers' way a few days ago. He suspected the stalkers might have killed her daughter.
He alleged that one Abul Hossen from a nearby village and some of his associates used to stalk Tripura girls.
“In an arbitration meeting in Tripura Para late last month, Abul Hossen pledged that he would not harass girls any more. Several local union Parishad members were present at the meeting. But the following day, Abul started stalking girls again. I suspect he has killed our daughters,” he said.
Police sent the bodies to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for autopsies.
