Reckless bus kills woman

A woman was run over and killed by a bus seconds after she got down from another bus in front of Jatiya Press Club yesterday.

Samiron Akter Selina, 50, was going to a mosque near the High Court to attend Juma prayer, said her grieving son Uzzal Ahmed.

Witnesses said the woman just got down from the bus on the road when she was hit from behind and got critically injured.

Police took her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared her dead.

Bus driver Tariqul has been arrested and the vehicle seized, said Abul Hasan, officer-in-charge of Shahbagh Police Station.

Uzzal said his mother lived in the old Dhaka and used to say her Juma prayers at the Mazar mosque every week.
