Couple found dead at home in Kurigram

Police yesterday recovered dead bodies of a couple from their house in Kurigram’s Nageshwari upazila.

The dead are Nazrul Islam Mena, 53, from Baniya Para area in the upazila and his wife Rumi Begum, 32, said Rawshan Kabir, officer-in-charge of Nageshwari Police Station.

One of their neighbours went to their house around 8:00am hearing their eight-month-old son crying for long.

Entering the house, he found the bodies in separate rooms and informed police, the OC said, adding that police recovered the bodies around 9:15am.

The bodies were sent to Kurigram General Hospital morgue for autopsies, he said, adding that a case was filed in this connection.

Police are suspecting that the two were choked to death, OC Rawshan said.

Nazrul was a loan shark and he had two wives, the OC also said, adding that his other wife lives in a separate house in the area.
