Indian media reports on Bangladesh 'speculative'
India yesterday termed as “speculative” media reports that Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence attempt to change the current government in Bangladesh and India has conveyed to authorities in Dhaka.
“We think the news reports you have seen are speculative. On behalf of the MEA (Ministry of External Affairs), we do not want to give any credence to them and we do not want to give any support to them,” MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar told the weekly media briefing here in response to a question posed by an Indian journalist.
The spokesman side stepped a question if Bangladesh Nationalist Party Chairperson Khaleda Zia, during her meeting with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj sought coming parliamentary elections in that country under a caretaker government.
He said several issues were discussed between Swaraj and the Bangladesh leaders as to how take forward and strengthen India-Bangladesh relations.
