Fatal mistake

She just wanted to drink a glass of water to quench her thirst. Instead, the newly appointed assistant of a gold shop mistakenly gave her acid instead of water.

After drinking from the glass, the young girl died on the spot.

The child was two and a half years old Joythi Marma, who had gone to Jogonath Jewellery shop in Ujani para area of Bandarban district town with her mother Sumitha Marma on Monday evening.

Joythi was her only child.

Locals caught the assistant of the shop Saimon Tripura, 19, while the owner of the shop, Raton Dhor, fled from the scene said Golam Sarwar, officer-in-charge of Bandarban police station.

Saimon had just joined as an assistant on Monday police said.
