Cop held with 1,000 Yaba pills

Detectives of Chittagong Metropolitan Police arrested two people, including an assistant sub-inspector of police, in possession of 1,000 Yaba pills at the city's Maijjartek early yesterday.

The arrestees are: Anwar Hossain, ASI of the Detective Branch of CMP, and Ujjal, said police.

Chittagong district police, however, said Anwar was recently transferred to Naval Police.

Kazi Shahabuddin, assistant commissioner (prosecution) of CMP, said Chittagong Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Shahadat Hossain Bhuiyan sent the two arrestees to jail after they were produced before it in a Yaba peddling case filed with Karnaphuli Police Station.

Law enforcers said a team of DB police picked up the duo when they were entering Chittagong city with the pills.

Rezaul Masud, additional superintendent (sadar) of Chittagong police, said, “Anwar was transferred to Naval Police around 15 to 20 days ago.”
