Boy killed hours after kidnap

A minor boy was “strangled to death” allegedly by a youth in Keraniganj of Dhaka yesterday, hours after he was kidnapped, police said.

The body of Sohag, 11, was recovered from the house of the alleged abductor, Yeasin Mohammad Shaheen, 25, at Mirerbagh in South Keraniganj around 5:00pm, Monirul Islam, officer-in-charge of South Keraniganj Police Station, told The Daily Star.

Sohag was kidnapped after he went to Shaheen's house around 11:00am, said the OC, adding that the kidnapper demanded Tk 3 lakh from the victim's father over mobile phone.

After tracking the mobile phone number, law enforcers recovered the body from the bedroom of Shaheen and arrested him, the police official added.
