2 teens 'raped' in Ashulia, Joypurhat

Two girls, including a madrasa student, were allegedly raped in Ashulia of Savar and Joypurhat Sadar upazila on Friday night.

A 17-year-old garment worker was allegedly raped in Ashulia, reports our Savar correspondent.

The victim, a sewing machine operator at a garment factory, was admitted to the One Stop Crisis Centre of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said Abdul Awal, officer-in-charge of Ashulia Police Station.

Quoting the victim's family, the OC said the girl went out for shopping at a local market around 3:00pm. But locals found her in an unconscious state beside Nabinagar-Chandra highway around 10:00pm and informed the police.

Yesterday, the girl told the police that she went to Gazipur with one Russell Mia on Saturday and he raped her there. 

Police detained Russell, 25 who has been in a relationship with the victim, for interrogation, the OC added.

A case was filed with Ashulia Police Station in this connection.

In another incident, a 15-year-old madrasa girl was "gang-raped" when she was returning home from a religious gathering in Joypurhat Sadar upazila, adds our Dinajpur correspondent.

On her way, some unidentified criminals took the girl to an isolated place around 9:00pm. They raped her and fled the spot, leaving the girl in a critical condition, said the victim's family. 

Locals, who were returning from the same programme, rescued her and rushed her to Joypurhat Modern Hospital.

The victim's father filed a case with Joypurhat Sadar Police Station yesterday.

Selim Hossain, officer-in-charge of the police station, said they were trying to identify and arrest the rapists.
