Celebrated actor, elocutionist and cultural personality Syed Hasan Imam turned 88 today. Born in 1935 in Burdwan in the Indian state of West Bengal, Hasan Imam has an illustrious acting career spanning over five decades. 

Advance booking of tickets for Mejbaur Rahman Sumon’s debut film “Hawa” have now closed. The news was confirmed by the hall authorities. Marking the film’s release date (July 29), the ticket sales, for areas outside of Dhaka, began on July 24. However, all available shows have already been declared houseful for the production.

Alongside his commendable performances in negative roles, popular actor Misha Sawdagor has successfully served as the president of Bangladesh Film Artists' Association. The actor is currently awaiting the release of four of his productions, namely “Cinema-Local”, “Pordar Arale”, “Betray”, and “Jimmi 2”.

Ramendu Majumdar is one of the pioneers of the stage-drama movement in Bangladesh.  He is one of the founders of the troupe, Theatre, formed in 1972. After almost 20 years, he directed a new play for the stage. The first screening of this new play will be held today Friday at the Shilpakala Academy.  The Ekushey Padak winner spoke to The Daily Star about a variety of topics including his latest play, life achievements, goals, and his thoughts on the current state of society. 

Starting her career in films with the Humayun Ahmed directorial production “Amar Ache Jol”, Bidya Sinha Mim managed to land back to back hits on the silver screen, including “Shapludu” and “Jonakir Alo”. The National Award winner is all set to return to the silver screen with Raihan Rafi’s much awaited film “Poran” this Eid. She has also been busy shooting for Dipankar Dipon’s “Antarjal”.
