When the BNP swept to power in February, expectations ran high. After years of misrule, voters were hungry for change.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman yesterday instructed BNP lawmakers from seats reserved for women to work in coordination with opposition MPs and local party leaders, particularly in constituencies where BNP candidates lost in the national election.

The ruling BNP will once again ask the opposition to join a special parliamentary committee on constitutional amendments in line with the July National Charter when parliament’s second session begins on June 7.
