Chattogram-based Smart Group, a partner of BM Container Depot Limited — where a devastating fire broke out, killing 45 people — has removed information on the depot from its website.

Police yesterday sued eight officials of the fire-ravaged BM Container Depot for negligence but left out the owners of the depot.

A majority of those injured in the Chattogram depot blasts have suffered eye injuries and many are at risk of permanent vision loss.

With limited capacity, doctors and medical staffers at Chattogram Medical College Hospital are doing their best to treat the victims of BM Container Depot fire.

“The last time I talked to my son was around 2:00pm on Saturday,” said Hasina Begum. 

“We were all together after the fire broke out at the container depot. Nayan was the first to go on Facebook live – providing updates on the fire. At one point there was a huge explosion, triggered by the fire. Nayan went silent and the screen went dark,” recalled Ariful Islam, a friend of Oliur Rahman Nayan.
