Tanjina Toma to perform at IGCC today
Tagore singer Tanjina Toma will perform at a solo musical soiree today (December 11) at 6: 30pm at Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) in Gulshan.
Toma, an alumnus of Chhayanaut, was trained under exponent gurus, including Waheedul Haq and Dr. Sanjida Khatun. The artiste regularly performs on stage and satellite TV channels of Bangladesh and India.
The artiste will set off the soiree with a patriotic song “Aji Bangladesh-er Hridoy Hotey” and wrap up with “Jodi Tor Daak Shune”, after reciting the English translation of the song by former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Toma hopes to perform an array of song composed by Panchokobi (Tagore, Nazrul, DL Roy, Atul Prasad and Rajanikanta).
Toma's first album “Modhu Jamini” was released in 2011, and the second one “Jibon Kotha” was released by Cozmic Harmony, Kolkata in May 2013. G-Series released her album “Khujey Berai” in May 2014 featuring songs and recitation from various plays of Tagore. Most recently, SAREGAMA (former HMV) in Kolkata released her album “Tumi O Ami” and UD Series Kolkata released her latest album “Tomar Shongey”. She is a member of Bangladesh Rabindra Sangeet Shammilan Parishad and Bangladesh Rabindra Sangeet Shilpi Sangstha.
