Shaheed Kabir Polash, a Nazrul singer, was inspired by Nazrul's versatility that cut across genres. His first album titled “Pordeshi Badhua” was released in 2009 under the banner of Laser Vision and featured 12 songs. “Singing was something that I always lean on,” Polash told The Daily Star.

I was not even in school, when I started singing. Seeing my great interest and passion for music my parents took on a teacher for me: Ashwin Kumar who was my inspiration; it was mostly during my class ten days that my love for Nazrul Sangeet grew. In 1998 I enrolled at Nazrul Institute where I trained under Nazrul exponents Sudhin Das and Sohrab Hossain,” says Polash.

Nazrul has diversified fields of songs. There are folk songs, inspirational songs, religious songs, revolutionary songs and many more.”

I am here because of my love for singing. I won several awards for Nazrul Sangeet and I stand here today because of my love for this genre.  It's not that I haven't sung in different genres but Nazrul's versatility drew me and made me fall in love with his songs,” concludes Polash.
