Musical tribute to BRSS holds programme at Public Library
Bangladesh Rabindra Sangeet Shilpi Sangstha paid musical tribute to renowned Tagore exponent Kalim Sharafi on October 31.
The programme was held at Shawkat Osman Memorial Auditorium of Central Public Library in the capital marking the fifth death anniversary of Kalim Sharafi, the founder president of the organisation.
Tapan Mahmud and Sajed Akbar, president and general secretary of the organisation respectively, gave the welcome speech to set off the event.
Eminent journalist and cultural personality Kamal Lohani shed light on the life of Kalim Sharafi. Noted actor Syed Hasan Imam walked down memory lane to recall his days with the late singer. Former Cultural Affairs Secretary Ranjit Kumar Biswas and veteran Tagore artiste Anup Bhattacharya also spoke at the event.
The cultural programme began with a choral rendition of “Aguner Poroshmoni” and “Somukhey Shanti Parabar” by the artistes of BRSS.
Sharmila Chakraborty presented “Amar Na Bola Katha”, followed by Sajed Akbar's rendition of “Sundoro He Sundoro”.
Nargis Chowdhury then rendered “Amar Hiyar Majhe Lukiye Chhile”, followed by Mohadev Ghosh's “Tomay Notun Kore Pabo Boley” and Himadri Shekhar's “Ei Kathati Mone Rekho”.
Among others, Adity Mohsin, Sadi Mohammad, Anima Roy, Salma Akbar, Pijush Barua also performed at the programme.
Selim Shamsul Huda Chowdhury was the creative director of the programme.
