Lucky, Happy – both gifted musicians

The Akhand family gifted the Bangladesh music arena with two bright stars -- Lucky Akhand and his younger brother Happy Akhand.

Even through Happy’s short life span, he gave the music industry many hits.

"Abar Elo Je Shondha", was probably one of the most poignant songs of Happy Akhand.

He was born on October 12, 1960 and died on December 28, 1987.

In spite of his all too brief life, Happy made other singers, musicians and band artistes happy with his prodigious musical talent.

He could not record many songs. Yet music lovers recall songs like "Khola Akasher Moto Tomakey Hridoy Diyechhi", "Swadhinata Tomakey Niye Gaan To Likhechhi", "Ke Banshi Bajaye Rey", "Tumi Amar Prothom Premer Gaan", "Polatok Shomoyer Haat Dhorey", Tumi Ki Dekhechho Pahari Jhorna", "Neel Neel Shari Porey", "Ei Prithibir Bukey Aashey Jara Nei Ki Tader Kono Asha" recorded by Happy.

His premature death was a big blow to all musicians who were influenced by Happy's passion for music.
