Lalon and Bhawaiya songs at Praner Khela
As part of Bengal Foundation's regular musical programmes titled “Praner Khela”, celebrated singer of Lalon songs Farida Parveen and talented young artiste Shafiul Alam Raja – a find of the Bengal Bikash Pratibha talent scout programme – performed at the Bengal Shilpalaya on September 19. This was the 47th episode of “Praner Khela”.
Shafiul Alam Raja first took the stage and performed Bhawaiya songs, the characteristic folk music from the country's Northern region. His set included “O Mo'r Kalare”, “O Re Bhaber Chhole Mojailen Mon”, “Tui Kyane Dakilu” and the evergreen “O Ki Garial Bhai”.
Farida Parveen, one of the most eminent Lalon exponents, then enthralled the audience with the tunes of “Parey Loye Jao Amaye”, “Bari'r Kachhe Arshinagar”, “Khacha'r Bhitor Ochin Pakhi”, “Jaat Gelo”, “Tin Pagole Holo Mela” and “Somoy Gele Sadhon Hobe Na”.
Bengal Foundation DG Luva Nahid Choudhury hosted the programme.
