BSA holds Bijoy Utsab

The Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) organised a four-day Bijoy Utsab (Victory Festival) marking Martyred Intellectuals Day (December 14) and Victory Day (December 16)that ended yesterday. The programmes included discussions, children's drawing competition, acrobatics display, stage drama, recitation, musical and dance performances and a photo exhibition.

On the morning of December 16, a group led by BSA DG Liaqat Ali Lucky placed floral wreaths at the National Memorial in Savar in the morning. A cultural programme was also held at the open stage of the memorial, where Ashraful Alam, Jayanta Chattopadhyay and Dalia Ahmed recited, Abu Bakar Siddique, Anima Mukti Gomes and Sajib presented solo songs and artistes of Bohnishikha presented group songs.

Other morning events featured a tour of the Liberation War Museum for children and of artworks on Martyred Intellectuals Day and Victory Day at BSA, and drawing competition for children. In the afternoon, performances by BSA Acrobatic repertory, musical performances by students of BSA's music department and band Chirkutt; dance performances by BSA artistes and groups led by Laila Hasan Samina Hussain Prema Warda Rihab, Deepa Khandakar and Mohakal Natya Sampraday; mime by 60 students; solo songs by a number of artistes including Shakila Zafar and Rafiqul Alam; recitation by elocutionists including Bhaswar Bandopadhyay and Nirmalendu Goon.
