BNSS commemorates Nazrul

Musical programme at Shilpakala

Bangladesh Nazrul Sangeet Sangstha (BNSS) organised a Nazrul Sangeet soiree, marking the 39th death anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam at National Music and Dance Centre auditorium l of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on September 6.

The event, titled “Ebar Nijer Kotha Koho”, featured solo and choral rendition of songs, recitation and a discussion. A number of renowned and promising artistes of BNSS performed diverse styles of Nazrul Sangeet.

Noted elocutionist Rupa Chakrabarty welcomed all and beautifully presented “Jodi Ar Banshi Na Bajey”. General Secretary Khairul Anam Shakil and President Khalid Hossain of BNSS spoke at the event highlighting the organisation's initiatives to popularise Nazrul Sangeet in Bangladesh.   

“The programme aims to come together both prominent and promising singers of the country so that the practice of Nazrul Sangeet continues generation after generation,” said Khairul Anam Shakil.

Artistes of BNSS set off the musical show with the choral song “Jago Amrito Piyashi” and “Mrityu Nai”. The singers also performed two other choruses later.

Eminent artistes Khalid Hossain rendered “Ontorey Tumi Achho Chirodin” while Khairul Anam Shakil performed “Boshia Bijoney” 

Among the solo performances, renowned singer Salahuddin Ahmed superbly performed “Bhul Kore Jodi Bhalobeshe Thaki” at the event. Bizon Chandra Mistry captivated the audience with his immaculate performance of “Amar Aponar Cheye”

Selina Hossain, Mahmudul Hasan, Simpy and Sushmita Debnath Shuchi performed “Kemoney Kohi Priyo”, “Piya Gechhe Kobe”, “Porodeshi Bondhua” and “Shawon Ashilo Phirey” respectively.

Noted artistes – Yakub Ali Khan, Dr. Leena Tapashi Khan, Nasima Shaheen, Joseph Kamal Rodriguez and others, along with promising artistes Mehfuz Al Fahad, Rezaul Karim, Mohit Khan, Bona Rani Halder and others rendered solos at the event.
