Bengal Foundation announces Subir Chowdhury art grant

Bengal Foundation has instituted a grant in the name of noted artist and its late trustee Subir Chowdhury. The grant, titled “Subir Chowdhury Art Practice Grant” was announced at a programme at Bengal Shilpalaya in the capital on June 3 evening.

Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor attended the programme as chief guest. Among others, noted artist Rafiqun Nabi, Bengal Foundation chairman Abul Khair and director general Luva Nahid Choudhury spoke at the event.

Prominent singer Farida Parveen sang a number of songs in memory of Subir Chowdhury. A documentary on the life and works of the late artist was also screened at the programme.

Bengal Foundation is optimistic that the grant will boost the talent of emerging artists and keep alive the memory of Subir Chowdhury.
