‘Ansar al Islam man’ arrested in Dhaka

Rab claimed to have arrested an alleged member of banned militant group Ansar al Islam from Dhaka's Kalyanpur area earlier today.

On information, a team of Rab-4 carried out a raid and arrested Shamsul Alam (26), from Kalyanpur bus stand area around 1:30am, says a press release.

Shamsul, who studied up to Alim (equivalent to HSC) under the Madrasa board, joined the militant outfit five years ago.

An active member of the group, Shamsul used to propagate extremism online, collect funds and recruit fresh operatives in Sunamganj and Habiganj district, the press release added.
