Tamils return to work

By Afp, Galle
Minority Tamils said they hope to go back to work yesterday after being forced to seek refuge in Hindu temples during two days of looting following a Tamil Tiger attack on Sri Lanka's port city of Galle.

"The trouble is over now -- back to normal," said one of the men who remained in Galle's largest Hindu temple.

He added that Tamil-owned businesses would open later in the day.

Dozens of families had gathered inside the temple compound, hours after continued attacks against their businesses, as government officials tried to reassure them that order had been restored.
