US recovers bodies of copter crew
The Russian-made Mi-8 transport chopper disappeared after taking off from Pakistan, where it had been chartered by the International Committee of the Red Cross to ferry supplies to victims of a devastating earthquake in Pakistan in October.
The seven on board were all nationals of Turkmenistan. The Red Cross has said none was staff. Lt. Col. Drew Kosmowski, a doctor who went on the five-hour recovery mission on Saturday, said four of the seven were doctors, while three were helicopter crew.
Nomadic shepherds spotted the wreckage about 500 feet below a mountain peak in Kapisa province, about 35 miles north of Kabul, on June 1.
