Samsung invades local market

Smart Technologies (BD) Ltd., the local distributor for Samsung had the products dispatched for the local market at prices ranging from taka 7000 to taka 12000 varying upon the technology and storage capacities.

The newly structured hard disks have reduced in size by an inch that takes the shape of 2.5" hard disks used in laptops and moreover using S-ATA the master and slave jumpers do not need to be configured manually. Samsung claims to have reduced the voltage consumption to a remarkable rate at 0.5V with S-ATA, which is one tenth of the existing ATA technology.

Data transfer with S-ATA hard disks has speeded up to 150 megabytes per second (mbps) compared to the existing ATA hard disks that had maximum 133 mbps.

Implementation of SilentSeek technology reduces the acoustic noise, which happens due to high frequency magneto-electric interactions along with the vibrations to the mechanical structure while performing tasks.

Considering the NoiseGuard technology the shape of the HDD coat has been designed to reinforce the overall structure of the most vibration-susceptible areas further reducing acoustic noise especially those that humans are most sensitive to.

Smart Technology (BD) Ltd. has also brought the Samsung 17" Inch Syncmaster 173P TFT LCD for the local market at a price of taka 40,000. Analysing the value for money in terms of this technology introduced may be of some difficulty unless the output is experienced with time. The product features flexibility in usage as the view of the monitor could be turned to the user's utmost desire at 178/178 degrees horizontal and vertical viewing angle delivering 1500:1 contrast ratio with 0.264mm pixel pitch and 1280 x 1024 resolutions.

In addition to these releases were Samsung's 21" Inch Syncmaster 1100 DF CRT monitor and the 17" Syncmaster 710M LCD. At a price of taka 40,000 the 1,100 DynaFlat monitor with 2048 x 1536 resolutions is comparatively higher in terms of resolutions than some similarly priced monitors.The TFT LCD 710 M has resolutions of 1280 x 1024 with 500:1 contrast ratio at a price of taka 23,500 available in the market.
