BASIS newsletter launched
According to the BASIS leaders, the objective of the newsletter is not only showcasing the local capacity in software production and IT enabled services, but to work as an advocacy tool at the policy level.
Prof Jamilur Reza Chowdhury, vice -chancellor of the Brac University, present as the chief guest on the occasion said that as the country is yet to generate a healthy ICT market and job opportunities, students are feeling reluctant to study the relevant subjects.
Among others, vice president of BASIS TIM Nurul Kabir, former BCS president Habibullah N Karim and its founder president A Towhid and its Director and Editor of the Newsletter AKM Fahim Mashrur spoke on the occasion.
The newsletter would help inform readers about the function of the country's IT incubator, ICT park along with other supportive bodies.
Regarding the country's ICT incubator, Sarwar Alam and Habibullah N Karim said it is no longer an ICT incubator for the young entrepreneurs, as it has become an enhanced facility for the software industry.
Sarwar Alam said that the publication would help reduce the prevailing information gap about the strength of the local software market.
Regarding the publication, some discussants said that launching of the publication is a milestone for the BASIS as well as the country's ICT industry, as it would be their voice.
