New body of BIJF formed

BANGLADESH ICT Journalist Forum (BIJF) carried out its first official election last Friday. BIJF, the association of country's tech journalist's had recently encountered a rapid growth in its number of members from different Medias that required BIJF to elect its body formally out of an election.

In presence of chief election commissioner, Abdullah H Kafi, former president of BCS, member of election commission and election observer, SM Iqbal, president of BCS along with BIJF representative, Saad Hammadi, a regular contributor of The Daily Star's weekly IT page 'StarTech', BIJF election 2005 was conducted peacefully.

The present BIJF body elected for the next two consecutive years are, President, Jesan Rahman, feature editor-IT, The Daily Ittefaq, Vice President, MA Haque Anu, assistant editor, The Monthly Computer Jagat, Secretary General, Muhammad Khan, sub-editor, The Daily Ajker Kagoj, Organising Secretary, Naznin Kabir, media coordinator, PC World Bangladesh was elected, while the post of Treasurer went to Razib Pervez, managing editor, The Monthly Technology Today uncontested.

Former president of BIJF, AKM Ahmedul Islam formally handed over his responsibility to Jesan Rahman after the election.
