"Through e-mail and other communication software, ministers can interact with each other and stay connected with the rural areas, from their very desks," said Teicher, while mentioning the benefits.

"E-government can bring in the change Bangladesh needs at the moment," said British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Anwar Chowdhury while addressing the workshop. "Through Information and communication technology, a healthy e-government can be maintained, which can reduce corruption," said Science and ICT Minister, Moyeen Khan who was present as the chairperson at the workshop. The minister further added that e-government will also make the government more transparent and accountable to the nation itself.

Larry Maramis, deputy resident representative of United Nations Development Project (UNDP) elaborated how democratic values will be properly ensured if remote areas are linked via networking activities

He also stated that achieving the country's Millenium Development Goal (MDG) will be possible through development of internet backbone, ICT infrastructure and cyber cafes in rural areas.
