ILO to launch child labour elimination project
The government and the International Labour Organisation (ILO) have signed an agreement to launch the preparatory phase of a time-bound programme (TBP) for elimination of worst forms of child labour, says a press release.
ERD Joint Secretary CQK Mustaq Ahmed and Director of ILO Office in Dhaka Gopal Bhattacharya signed the agreement recently.
Under the preparatory phase of the project, the ILO, in partnership with the Unicef and the ADB, will assist the government in generating a framework for policy level interventions and direct action for addressing the worst forms of child labour.
A donor consortium comprising DFID, NORAD and the USAID will provide 2.5 million US dollar for the two-year preparatory phase.
