Changes in Armed Forces Day programmes

BSS, Dhaka
Like previous years, Armed Forces Day will be observed this year on November 21 in a befitting manner.

However, reception to the gallantry award winner freedom fighters and members of the Shaheed families as well as the evening reception programme at Senakunja will be held on December 3 instead of November 21, says an ISPR press release here yesterday.

Last year, November 21 fell in the month of holy Ramadan. It was observed that it became difficult for the guests to attend the Tarabih prayers in time who attended the evening reception at Senakunja hosted by the prime minister on the occasion of the Armed Forces Day.

This year, November 21 also fell in the month of holy Ramadan. Moreover, the day is Friday and Jumatul Bida, the press release says.

Considering the religious significance of the day and the need to attend the Tarabih prayers in time and also to uphold the solemnity of the Armed Forces Day, it has been decided to hold the reception to the gallantry award winner freedom fighters and members of the Shaheed families at Armed Forces Division and evening reception at Senakunja to be hosted by the prime minister on December 1 instead of November 21.
